Key Takeaways from NAMB Focus 2022

Starting the year off with a bang is exactly what the #teamlo had in mind when they gathered in Orlando, Florida earlier this month to attend NAMB Focus alongside other mortgage professionals. This year’s conference “All About You!” gave attendees an opportunity to join product showcases, informative breakout sessions, networking events and so much more. In case you weren’t able to attend, we’ve recapped some of our key takeaways and thoughts.

The #teamlo set up shop on the exhibition floor and talked to many current and prospective wemlo℠ customers about what’s going on with their business, what could make their lives easier, and just general industry observations. Here is a snapshot of what we heard:

  • Consistent Feedback – Across the board, the overwhelming feedback showed how the mortgage broker is hungry for any innovation that will make business run smoother.

  • Similar Goals – Although product offerings might have been unique, lenders, bankers, tech services, and other processing companies all seemed to focus on different techniques to streamline the mortgage process.

  • Ready for Change – No longer content with the status quo, many professionals are ready to push the envelope and experiment with fresh innovation as opposed to the “this is how we’ve always done it” mindset.

  • Selective Involvement – Even though brokers are eager to simplify the mortgage process, that doesn’t mean they want to be less involved. Solutions like wemlo’s processing service answer this problem by allowing brokers a direct line of sight into a loan’s progress and status, but without the need to babysit it.

  • Processing Woes – Whether it’s the volume of the work, the time commitment, desire to focus on other aspects of the mortgage transaction, the significant business cost of doing it in-house, or simply just not enjoying it, more and more brokers are looking to outsource their processing needs.

The #teamlo also attended several workshops including “High Heels in High Places” which featured four women in executive roles within the wholesale broker space.

"These leaders offered valuable insight and advice on advancing your career as well as the challenges they faced coming into their current roles. It was inspiring to hear about their passion for helping the younger generation of leaders," said Chelsea Balak, Vice President of Operations of wemlo. "This resonated with me on a deeper level because of how much effort we put into wemlo’s culture and carving out distinct learning paths for each career avenue. People thrive at wemlo and there is no better example than our team of female operations leaders who are all homegrown."
